Hi All,  So today I am going to be looking into something.  What Is the Best Free Keyword Research Tool?  I actually pay for my Keyword Research tool.  It’s called Jaaxy, in case you’re wondering.  I will maybe talk about this a bit more towards the end.

For now though if you are just starting out I want to share with you everything I know about using a free keyword research tool online.

This post today before I continue I’d just like to add.  I am writing as part of my Bootcamp training as a member of Wealthy Affiliate.  I don’t want to talk about this too much.  It is not really related but yes as part of my Bootcamp one of the action plans was to write about search engine optimization training.

This took me quite a long time to grasp actually.  A whole year I think I spent picking low ranking keywords.  You need to find the right balance or your keywords won’t rank.  They might but you might have a long wait otherwise.

So I want to share with you my technique for choosing keywords, and how you can do keyword research for free.

What Is the Best Free Keyword Research Tool?

1# – What is the Google Adwords Keyword Planner Tool!

If you type into google – google keyword search tool free this will be the first one you find.

What is the Google Adwords Keyword Planner Tool

It can definitely be utilised for a good SEO strategy.  You can see in the above screenshot ‘Keyword Tool‘ the highest bid is £455.19.  ‘Keyword Research is, even more, £723.90.

These are because of PPC bids on Google Ads but as a good rule of the thumb, these are not the kind of keywords you want to try rank for.

However, ‘Google Keyword Tool‘ the highest bid is £5.22.  That is more the kind of keyword you’d want to use but there are much better keywords than this.  Keywords with 3-6 keywords are called Longtail keywords.  These are what you want to look for.

This is why I like Jaaxy.

2# – What About Jaaxy Keyword Tool

What About Jaaxy Keyword Tool

For me what I like about Jaaxy is the data that it provides.  I covered this in my recent post here How to Improve Search Ranking with Jaaxy but yes since the start of the year Jaaxy has completely transformed my keyword research.

It is better with a premium membership but as a free member, you can still do 30 searches (I think) a month.

If you would like to try it out for free just type your keyword into the toolbox below and click search.

To use there is one basic rule of the thumb in my opinion.  The 100/100 rule.  This means you should look for keywords with over 100  AVG and under 100 QSR.

The lower the better but also other rules I follow are making sure the keyword makes grammatical sense.  I do this and for searches, I try to choose Traffic at least 20 to 35 searches top.

This doesn’t mean other keywords won’t rank but you want to find the goodens’.  Not too low and not too high either.

3# – Other Free Keyword Analysis Resources

One I have recently come across is Neil Patel’s UberSuggest.  I am still finding my feet with this platform but one thing I like is it tells me how many keywords my website ranks for.

I don’t really know enough to share for the time being but I have found this video below that will perhaps maybe explain things a bit better.

Other than this 2 more I’ve been able to find are as follows;

 i.) KeywordTool.io

I actually am familiar with this platform and have it a number of times to find keywords en masse.  Over the past months, I have used this mostly for Pinterest descriptions.

It doesn’t give any scores or anything but if you are just fishing for ideas this is definitely worth a look at. Here is the website; https://keywordtool.io/

ii.) Keyword Generator by AHREFS

Another free tool for keyword research is ‘Keyword Generator’ by AHREFS.  AHREFS is a very popular paid keyword research tool.  To get AHREFS the basic package is $100 a month.  Not exactly what you’d call pocket change but they do have this free tool.

It’s a bit more advanced than Google Adwords Keyword Planner Tool but it’s definitely one worth learning to use.

Especially if you are looking for a free tool.  I haven’t taken the time to look at this much yet myself.  Honestly, only just stumbled upon it whilst doing my research for this post.  I think between keywordtool.io, and Google Keyword planner it’s maybe the better one.  Jaaxy wins for me hands down but this I’d definitely say for a free tool it’s at least worth a look at.

Final Thoughts ?

I personally love free tools.  Blogger, YouTube, Canva are just a few examples.  Although for an actual paid Keyword Research tool it is worth paying the money, and learning how to properly use it.

My recommendation Jaaxy is available for both paid and free members.  As a free member, you are pretty limited to what you can do but all you need to rank a post is one good keyword.

I think you get 30 searches a month or something.  Just remember these rules;

  • Keywords must make sense (grammar)
  • AVG Higher Than 100
  • Traffic at the very least 20 but 30 at least is better!
  • QSR – Under 100 – The Lower the Better!
  • SEO – Should be between 90-100

You also have domains you should check to see what these are as well because for example .com is better than .xyz

With this information, you can make money.  I made money from affiliate marketing with ‘blogger’ before I even knew how to use keywords.  It can be done but you can give yourself a massive advantage here.  Preparation goes a long way.

If you would like to try for yourself – use Jaaxy’s free tool for a free search below;
